Born in Honduras, she took her first steps in music in Tegucigalpa. During her final year of studies, she was invited to travel to various countries in Central America, joining the Jeune Orchestre et Choral de Centroamérica (JOCCA) festival.
She was hired by the Honduras Philharmonic Orchestra for three years before beginning her university studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras. After participating in the Festival Internacional de Música Pochote as a soloist, she began her studies at the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR). In Costa Rica, she played with the country's most renowned orchestras, including the Orquesta Nacional de Costa Rica, Orquesta Sinfónica de Heredia, and Orquesta Sinfónica de la UCR, as concertmaster and soloist in some of them. At the same time, she taught violin at various private academies and became an assistant professor of music theory at the UCR.
Astrid has received masterclasses from Rachel Barton Pine, Augustin Leon Ara, Andreas Neufeld, Erez Ofer, Niek Baar, Saul Bitran, Rachel Wong, Harvey Thurmer, Lin He, and Roberto Alonso Trillo.
She received a full scholarship for two consecutive years to attend the Sewanee Summer Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. She participated in the soloist competition and was selected as concertmaster and section leader on several occasions.
She completed her bachelor's degree in violin at the UCR with honours. She then began her second bachelor's degree, this time at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, with Leonid Kerbel, then Veronique Bogaerts. She continued to perfect her skills with a master's degree in violin with Ayako Tanaka and a second master's degree in teaching. During her stay in Brussels, she attended masterclasses with Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Hilary Hahn and received masterclasses with Guillaume Sutre, Erin Keef, Florent Brémond and Vicente Anton.
Astrid has performed with the CrB Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, the Accademia de la Esperanza in Bruges, Accademia Vicino (IT), Etesiane Orchestra, the Sotiropoulos Orchestra (Montpellier) and is employed as concertmaster of the Louvain-la-Neuve Student Orchestra (OSEL), as well as numerous orchestra and/or chamber music projects such as the Courant d'Air Festival, Carte Blanche Violon and the Festival de Femmes dans la Musique, among others.
